Can any alumna really become a member?
Absolutely! We are an organization that welcomes all alumnae regardless of how you feel about the changes at our alma mater. We are all R-MWC alumnae first and foremost and that will never change. Our main goal is to keep alumnae connected to each other.
I attended R-MWC for a semester. Can I join?
Definitely. The Red Brick Wall defines alumna as any person who holds a degree from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, who completed at least one semester at R-MWC, or who has been distinguished as an Honorary Alumna of the College. Any current students through the class of 2010 who attended R-MWC for at least one semester is welcome to join us as an alumna.
I served on the faculty at R-MWC. Can I join?
Of course. Any past member of the faculty or staff of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College may become an associate member of the Association upon payment of annual dues.
My daughter attended R-MWC. Can I join?
Yes. Any parent or guardian of a Randolph-Macon Woman’s College alumna may become an associate member of the Association upon payment of annual dues.
What is expected of me as a member?
The Red Brick Wall is committed to honoring the rich history, culture, and tradition of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and maintaining a welcoming, positive atmosphere of trust, honor and respect for all alumnae and friends of R-MWC as reflected in our College’s Honor Code. By joining our association, you agree to help us uphold these ideals.
What will we do?
That's going to be up to you as a member! We have lots of ideas, and we are sure you do, too. We want to tailor the association to its membership. To begin, we hope to have an Annual Meeting and a Reunion each year. We want to hear from our members and move forward with those ideas. Some of the activities we could offer include but are not limited to: e-lectures, online book clubs, regional events, one-day volunteer community service events, networking, social events and holiday teas.
Why do you have annual membership dues?
We are a group of volunteers who receives no funding or support outside of our membership base. Annual membership dues help to fund the operational costs of the association and help keep track of the membership. Membership tracking will allow us to engage and inform our membership and not use valuable volunteer time and resources communicating with alumnae that have no interest in our Association.
Will you ask us for money?
Initially, we will ask you for dues in the amount of $20 annually. Dues are required for membership, and this amount may increase in future years. Also, we will have fundraisers from time to time. Remember, this association will not be funded by our alma mater and we will operate solely on dues and donations.
Can I become a lifetime member of The Red Brick Wall?
Absolutely! A lifetime RBW membership carries a one-time dues payment of $1,891. Even if annual membership dues increase, the lifetime membership fee will remain the same.
I want to become involved! How can I sign up to help?
First, join The Red Brick Wall by completing our RBW New Member document. Please email it to info@theredbrickwall.com. That way, you’ll receive all RBW communications, and we can let you know when an event occurs or a need arises.
How do I volunteer/hold office?
You can contact us directly at volunteer@theredbrickwall.com to find out where you can serve. If you would like to serve as an officer, committee chair, Regent or committee member, please e-mail our Nominating Committee Chair, Stephanie Ciechanowski ‘05, at sciechanowski@theredbrickwall.com and be sure to include your name, class, contact information and qualifications.
I'd like to help, but my time is limited and I'm not sure what I can contribute. Is there a place for me?
Certainly. As you can imagine, we can always use volunteers. You can call an older alumna, write a postcard, lend us ideas or creative solutions or a host of other things that you can do from the comfort of your own home. We just appreciate the time you can give because we understand that you may have a busy schedule, but you still want to be involved. Please send your ideas to volunteer@theredbrickwall.com.
I’m having a problem registering my contact information.
